HONOLULU – Public comment is being sought on an environmental study of plans to build giant wind farms on Molokai and Lanai and transmit the power to Oahu via undersea cable.
The state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism Energy Office has notified the state and federal governments that it plans to prepare a “programmatic environmental impact statement” for the Hawaii Interisland Renewable Energy Program.
People have until early March to comment on the proposal. For more information, visit www.hirep-wind.com.
