Wind appeal success

Wind farm campaigners are celebrating after planners rejected proposals to build eight 125m-high turbines in rural Lincolnshire.

Since February 2008, residents of the Baumber area, near Horncastle, have been fighting the Enertag UK scheme – forcing it to a public inquiry in October this year.

And on Thursday, the Planning Inspectorate rebuffed a planning appeal on the grounds that the wind farm would have too much of an impact on the surrounding landscape, Grade 1 and 2-listed properties nearby, and the lives of residents.

Chairman of East Lindsey District Council’s planning committee, Councillor Stephenson Eyre, said he was delighted.

“This is the result the council and community wanted,” he said.

“We successfully fought this appeal together.

“We made a robust argument as to why this application wasn’t appropriate for Baumber and the inspector has agreed with us.”
