Grange Moor wind turbine plans rejected

The Huddersfield Daily Examiner, www.examiner.co.uk 16 December 2010

The views of more than 1,000 objectors for plans to site a pair of huge turbines in a rural Huddersfield village were heeded this afternoon as councillors gave the controversial plans the boot.

More than a thousand people had written to Kirklees Council to object to the proposals for Grange Moor.

This afternoon the plan was unanimously rejected by councillors at a Heavy Woollen planning meeting at Batley Town Hall.

The plans would have seen the 47.5m turbines, sited at Grange Ash Farm behind the Kaye Arms pub and restaurant, towering over the surrounding areas

As well as individuals, the council also received objections from Kirkburton Parish Council, Yorkshire Euro-MP Godfrey Bloom, the Campaign to Protect Rural England and the Open Spaces Society.
