Sterling College staff, students oppose wind project

wcax.com, December 15, 2010

Craftsbury, Vermont – Students and faculty at one of Vermont’s “greenest” colleges are speaking out against a wind power project.

Green Mountain Power wants to put up to two dozen wind towers in Lowell. Voters there have approved the plan.

But there is still strong opposition, including from 29 faculty members and 80 students at Sterling College. The ridgelines in Lowell can be seen from the Craftsbury school and the campus community values that view more than renewable energy the wind turbines would create.

The group of students and faculty signed a petition asking the Public Service Board to reject the Lowell project and other industrial wind developments on Vermont ridgelines.
