Consumers Energy Wind Park dominates comments at commission

Wind turbine matters dominated public comment at the beginning and close of the Mason County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday night.

There was nothing on the agenda directly related to wind turbines or the Consumers Energy Lake Winds Energy Park planned for Riverton and Summit townships, but a Consumers representative was on hand to distribute a news release projecting tax revenue benefits of the project to the local community, and Riverton residents who oppose it spoke out asking for a moratorium on turbine placement until health and safety concerns have been explored.
