Noble sells stake in 99MW New Hampshire wind farm

Wind developer Noble Environmental Power is to sell its majority interest in a 99-megawatt New Hampshire wind farm.

The company based in Essex, Connecticut will sell its interest in the $275 million Granite Reliable Power Windpark to Brookfield Renewable Power, Inc.

Comprising 33 wind turbines – V90-3.0MW machines supplied by manufacturer Vestas – the facility in Coos County is expected to be completed in December 2011.

Noble Environmental Power said last week that the sale was contingent on certain conditions and receipt of third party approvals, but would not affect existing permits or plans for the wind farm.

Power from the wind farm is being sold to utilities Central Vermont Public Service and Green Mountain Power (see this BrighterEnergy.org story).

Noble Environmental CEO Kay Mann said: “It has been a pleasure to work with the people of New Hampshire in developing the Granite Reliable Power Windpark. We are proud of the many economic benefits the project has delivered thus far, and we are even more excited for the environmental and economic benefits the windpark will generate throughout its lifetime.”
Brookfield

Brookfield, which has offices in Toronto, Quebec and Massachusetts, currently operates 100 hydropower facilities in the United States with a generating capacity above 1,900MW.

The company is also an active developer, owner and operator of wind farms. A longtime operator of hydropower on the nearby Androscoggin River, Brookfield already has an operations office in Coos County.

Ms Mann said: “We offer our congratulations to Brookfield in taking steps toward making this important investment in wind energy.”
