LINDEN – After a challenge from the state, any plans North Montgomery School Corporation may have had to invest in a wind turbine in a Tippecanoe County wind park have been put on hold.
At the November meeting, the school board discussed the possible investment which could produce more than $6 million during a 25-year period.
However, Business Manager Jim McBee said Monday that three things need to happen before any school can invest in a Performance Services turbine: Legislation must be passed during the next session which makes clear that schools are allowed to participate in such investments; the company must find land for a second wind park it is looking to develop; and the parties involved would need an extension on stimulus money.
