PROSPECT – The Town Council has formed a subcommittee to recommend options for an official town response to a proposed wind turbine project here.
Town Council Chairman Thomas J. Galvin asked for council members to volunteer on the subcommittee Tuesday after several residents from a recently formed group, Save Prospect Corp., voiced concern about BNE Energy Inc.’s proposal to erect two wind turbines at 178 New Haven Road.
The four-member subcommittee comprises Patricia Sullivan Geary, Jeffrey B. Slapikas, Stanley Pilat and Theresa Cocchiola Graveline, and will return next Tuesday with a recommendation to the Town Council, Galvin said.
Last month, the West Hartford-based company filed an application with the Connecticut Siting Council, which has sole jurisdiction on such projects. Galvin said the siting council could override any order that the town enacts by a vote of six of nine members.
