Public to be briefed on wind farm expansion plans

ABC South East SA, www.abc.net.au 9 December 2010

The company that owns the Lake Bonney wind farm hopes to expand its operations along the South Australian coast.

Infigen Energy has told its shareholders it plans to expand along the Limestone Coast with a wind farm that would be capable of producing almost 500 megawatts of power.

The company’s development manager, Frank Boland, says residents from Cape Jaffa down to Lake Bonney will be informed at meetings in the region tomorrow.

He says an application will be put to the three councils affected before Christmas but plans are ready to go.

“All of the land’s secured. We’ve completed our environmental assessment studies,” he said.

If approved, the development is expected to cost more than $800 million to complete.
