A little naive

The Australian, www.theaustralian.com.au 2 December 2010

I have just returned from a holiday in my old home town in Ayrshire, Scotland and to see wind farms on moors, in fields and on headlands defacing the countryside for relatively minimal electrical output is desperately sad.

Thankfully, people are now starting to see the light and protesting against wind farms, particularly those that are a visual blight.

There are two nuclear power stations on the coast at Hunterston in Ayrshire and they’ve been there since the early 1960s with no problems. In fact, the locals are now objecting to the possible replacement of one nuclear power station (which is being decommissioned) with a coal-fired power station for reasons of pollution.

We are uninformed and misinformed about nuclear power in Australia and I suspect a little naive about green issues generally.
