Scobee Circle turbine withdrawn; Sheava LLC requests proposal be withdrawn after strong opposition to it

PLYMOUTH – Sheava LLC has penned a letter to town boards requesting its proposal to erect a 364-foot wind turbine on Scobee Circle be withdrawn.

The Planning Board will consider this request at its next meeting Monday, Dec. 1.

More than 70 abutters and residents turned out at the board’s Nov. 8 meeting to consider this turbine plan, many saying the proposal would destroy their quality of life, drastically reduce property values and be an overall nuisance and health hazard.

Plymouth Municipal Airport Manager Tom Maher also objected to the proposal and disagreed with the Federal Aviation Administration’s ruling that the turbine would not be a flight hazard.

The Planning Board voted 3-1 against recommending the Zoning Board of Appeals grant Sheava LLC a special permit to erect the structure.

Director of Planning and Development Lee Hartmann said the letter requesting the project be withdrawn arrived this week.
