Diary of a windfarm protest

by John Jones, Carmarthen Journal, via: findarticles.com 24 November 2010

Villagers in Llanllwni are getting together to oppose an application for wind turbines on Llanllwni Mountain.

The Journal has agreed to print a regular column on the progress of their fight. Here is the first installment.

.THIS is the first blog from the people who love Llanllwni Mountain, reporting the progress of their opposition to the application from RES, a “World Leading Renewable Energy Company”.

It is very much a David and Goliath battle all over again.

Many people in Llanllwni and surrounding villages are very worried about the proposed windfarm.

RES, are applying for 21, 127 metre high turbines on the mountain. They will be approximately two-and-a-half times taller than the radio masts on the mountain.

There is a public meeting tomorrow at the Community Hall, formerly known as the Church Rooms at Llanllwni Church in Maesycrugiau. The meeting is being chaired by Mrs Linda Evans, starting at 7:30pm.
