New Teesside windfarm substation plan thrown out

BBC News, www.bbc.co.uk 19 November 2010

A planning application for a new substation on the site of a Teesside windfarm has been rejected.

Broadview Energy wanted to build the bigger control centre at the Hilton and Seamer site.

But Stockton Council has turned the application down after 90 people objected claiming it would have a detrimental impact on the landscape.

Geoffrey Corrigan, managing director of the power firm, said he was “disappointed” with the decision.

There are five turbines on the site which provide power for more than 7,000 homes.
