Wind turbines in lake bad idea

Erie Times-News, www.goerie.com 4 November 2010

Folks, industrial wind turbines in Lake Erie, as state Rep. John Hornaman and his colleagues voted for, is an insane idea. We have a precious and beautiful lake that WTs will destroy.

A Cleveland developer said the lake has a capacity for tens of thousands of WTs. Imagine the lake looking like a pin cushion.

They’re a threat to our drinking water from leaking gas and the stirring up of long-buried metals and chemicals.

Scenic views and sunsets would be destroyed by 50-story or higher (top of blade) turbines.

It would have a negative effect on tourism and recreational boating. And so forth.

People are angry with the government over health care. Why let the government destroy Erie’s most precious asset, Lake Erie?
