Wind farm studies go on public show

Preliminary assessments of the effect the planned Vectis Wind Farm will have on the Wellow environment will be on public display next week.
Open days are being staged on Wednesday and Thursday by Infinergy, which has taken over the project after the previous six-turbine plan was turned down by the IW Council.
Five giant turbines are now planned for the Wellow farmland to the south of Thorley on the fringe of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
On display will be the preliminary findings from the different studies carried out as part of the environmental impact assessment.
“We urge people to come along to the exhibitions to give us their views,” said project director, Herb Lindlahr. “We appreciate people have a desire to learn the facts about the farm.”
Infinergy says the wind farm could supply around 6,400 homes with electricity.
ThWART (The Wight Against Rural Turbines) has promised to renew its opposition.
l The exhibition is at Yarmouth Institute on Wednesday and Calbourne Watermill on Thursday, both between 2pm and 8pm.
