A 21-year-old man died this morning in an accident while working at Vestas wind turbine tower plant, according to Pueblo Police.

“All I know at this point is a 21-year-old man was working on train tracks, helping load sections of towers when he was pinned up against a flatbed train car by a forklift,” Sgt. Eric Bravo of the Pueblo Police Department said.

The victim has been identified as John Keel.

Pueblo County Coroner James Kramer said Keel, whose wife and family lives out of state, died from “crushing injuries.”

An autopsy is scheduled today.

The incident happened about 10:30 a.m. at the Vestas plant south of Pueblo.

Kramer called the death an “industrial accident.”
