Turbines appeal

Goole Courier, www.goolecourier.co.uk 27 October 2010

Falck Renewables Plc who were planning on erecting five wind turbines in Spaldington have appealed against a planning decision to turn down their proposal.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council rejected the application to put up the two-to-three megawatt structures, along with an anemometry mast and control building at Spaldington Airfield on Holme Road.

ERYC’s reasoning was that this plan would add to other wind farm plans destined for this area and would have a “significant adverse and negative cumulative impact on the residents of Spaldington”.

It also stated: “The proposed development would have a detrimental impact on the lives of residents as a signicant number of properties are within 1,000 metres of the proppsed site.”

The appeal will be decided on the basis of a public inuiry, a date has yet to be fixed.
