Wind farm mast is set to be removed

The firm which wanted to build five 126-metre wind turbines on Matlock Moor will remove its testing mast next month.

West Coast Energy, whose bid was blocked after a five-week public inquiry in Matlock Town Hall, has confirmed it has ended its interest in the site.

Matthew Hayes said: “We don’t have other plans in the local area either. It’s been a lengthy process and ultimately the inspector’s decision is final and we respect that.”

The mast will be removed on November 15 or 16.
