Villagers fight plans for new turbine

New plans that could lead to a wind turbine being built near Tewkesbury have been submitted.

The borough council is already considering controversial plans to create three 126m high wind turbines at Strensham, near Tewkesbury. Villagers are fighting the plans, which are due to be considered later this year, because they fear they could be a blot on the landscape.

The council has received separate plans to place a wind monitoring mast at Bengrove Farm, Teddington, for a year.

The application, from William Hitchman, says the 30m high mast would measure wind speed to see whether the farm could be used as a site for an independent wind turbine.

Mr Hitchman declined to comment but his application says the small-scale wind turbine generator would provide power to the farm buildings.

It is not clear whether the plans will lead to objections in Teddington. The parish council refused to comment.
