Another reason to lose faith in government spending

The Dickinson Press, www.thedickinsonpress.com 12 October 2010

I read with interest last week’s news article regarding the government’s decision to build a $2.7 million wind tower for the Pembina border station. Apparently it takes a lot of taxpayers’ green for the government to go green.

I don’t know the electrical usage at the port, but if I estimate $5,000 per month, the payback will be about 45 years not including maintenance and repair. If the local renewable energy corporation is now the power supplier, their loss. If it is a public utility, their loss plus loss of income tax revenue.

Is it any wonder why the public lost faith with government spending?
