Too many concessions for wind turbines

Once again Navajo County is making concessions to ranchers and their wind cohorts at Iberdrola. It’s amazing the county can let zoning change at the whims of the wind industry. I attend numerous wind issue meetings. These ranchers plead they are on hard times. Well, we can all understand that.

Then, they raise their coached voices and tell the Board of Supervisors “I’m trying to exercise my rights!”

I have to tell you, these are not rights. You and I prop up these industrial wind complexes through subsidies. Taxpayers! Rights come from God. They do not come from the taxpayer. You need to realize as taxpayers we are propping up another failed industry. Some ranchers are failing, and we become de facto investors in yet another bailout scheme. The same thing happened at GM, Chrysler, etc. As businesses fail, should we all look to the taxpayer (government) for a bail out?

Homero Vela, a county employee, told me ‘we have to show more respect to people like Mr. B. and his rights.’ Well, excuse me, what makes my rights or your rights less important? Should these turbines be placed very close to homes, or could we not move them further north? There are 26 empty miles to Holbrook. Why place them next to people? Are the ranchers’ rights more important or the taxpayers’ dollars propping them up?

The industrial wind complex is at work to weaken the economy. They say wind power will stop our dependence on foreign oil. That is preposterous on its face. Each wind tower uses 1,500 gallons of oil, and numerous petroleum lubricants. The green carpetbaggers are trying to make their friends rich at the expense of the taxpayer. They have no other goal.
