MILLBROOK – Concerned about health effects on residents, plummeting property values and threats to birds and wildlife were front and centre at a public meeting Thursday night surrounding the planned wind turbine farm in the Millbrook area.

“This is not NIMBY (not in my backyard),” said speaker David Marsh, a real estate agent and City of Kawartha Lakes Ward 16 councillor.

“Premier Dalton McGuinty and his supporters are screaming NIMBY because they don’t want to block the view of people on the beach.”

About 200 people attended the meeting to protest the planned wind turbine farm. The meeting was held at Millbrook South Cavan Public School.

Meeting organizer Dave Van Loon said wind turbines do not belong in residential neighbourhoods.
