Fatal blow for turbine plan

Proposals to put up a wind turbine in a special landscape area have been thrown out.

Planners had recommended approval of the proposals for the 60ft mast at Old Engine Farm, Birchenfields Lane, Dilhorne.

However, Councillor Mike Bowen warned that turbines spoiled the countryside.

He said: “Our outstanding landscape is being wrecked bit by bit.”

But Councillor Margaret Lovatt said: “I think the application is reasonably modest.”

Chairman Paul Roberts used his casting vote to refuse the application.
