Chamber: Take puff out of wind turbines

ABC South East NSW, www.abc.net.au 2 September 2010

The president of the Tilba District Chamber of Commerce on the New South Wales far south coast says he’s looking forward to today’s visit from the State Heritage Council.

Sol Romana-Clark says the Chamber hopes to make the Council aware of the potential impact on heritage values of domestic wind turbines.

The Council will spend the next two days in the Eurobodalla, visiting shire centres and meeting local communities.

Mr Romana-Clark says the Chamber wants more open discussion on the wind turbine issue.

“We just want this process, of the wind turbine placement, to go through the normal development application channels,” he said.

“You know, all other development in the Tilba Conservation Area already has had to go through that DA process.

“So, it’s actually not a change.

“There are plenty of great places for wind turbines but they won’t necessarily be allowed to go up just everywhere, as is the case now.”
