Money is driving lake wind turbines and nothing else

The Muskegon Chronicle, www.mlive.com 22 August 2010

In the article in the Aug. 14 Ludington Daily News, Harald Dirdal of Scandia Wind Offshore referred to the “armchair engineers.” I have one question, why is it that his so-called “expert engineers” could not answer the questions these “armchair engineers” asked. By the way, these were questions that a second-year college engineering student could have answered.

He also stated the people opposed to this were only thinking of themselves. What is Scandia’s interest here? After all the lies that have been told to us, is there anybody that really believes Scandia is here to bring us jobs, or clean, affordable, efficient electricity? It is as it always has been, they are here for our money.

One other point I would like to make. If the people from Walkerville and other communities that are not directly affected by these windmills would research the facts about the windmills and the claims of jobs and how much cheaper our electric bills are going to be as these “armchair engineers” have done, they would learn why Scandia is here. One word “money” – ours.

At one of the first meetings, Scandia said, If all the communities involved are not for the project, “we are out of here.” A number of villages, towns, townships, and counties have said “no.” Scandia is still here.

They did not keep their promise, why should we believe all their other false claims?

Contrary to what Dirdal said “We’re just surprised by the lack of solid leadership in the leaders,” the leaders did what they’re supposed to. They listened to the majority of the people; that’s the way things are supposed to happen in America.

They are now going to try and sell these false claims to Muskegon and Ottawa counties. People should wake up and look into the facts; there are plenty available. There is so much more involved than the ugliness of these things in the lake. If you look at the affect on the whole lake, you would understand why these “armchair engineers” – and just plain people – feel the way they do.
