Destruction by wind

The Observer, www.lagrandeobserver.com 16 August 2010

If someone was forced to live within 1,500 feet of these wind turbines in Telocaset, they would know what we as property owners have gone through these last three years: the knowledge of bird and bat kills, the elk leaving the area, the loss of constant presence of antelope and the fact that each turbine/tower contains massive amounts of fossil fuels and hazardous dangers. This is not a falsehood, but facts.

The state law allows for certain levels of noise from industries. They are far exceeded in homes 3,000 feet away from turbines. We are 1,500 feet away.

Lack of sleep from the noise has caused ill health, depression, heart and joint pain, dizziness, ear pressure and a stressful hopelessness.

I appreciate families sticking together to get the few jobs wind might bring, but our tax dollars could go into making many more jobs available that don’t destroy the environment and ruin lives.

People talk about property rights, but the few families here that weren’t going to profit nor want our rural areas to turn into industrial sites weren’t notified of the original Horizon meetings of approval and disapproval.

I would not want anyone to go through the hellish life we are going through because of these non-green wind turbines.

Stop this from being your nightmare/daymare and protect your heritage and beautiful Grande Ronde Valley from the total destruction by wind power. It is a cancerous sore that needs to be eradicated from the Earth. Not by hostile takeover like Horizon and our county officials have done to us in Telocaset.
