Wind farm protesters make feelings known to Lichfield planning chiefs

thelichfieldblog.co.uk 10 August 2010

People living in villages around the site of a proposed wind farm have “inundated” Lichfield District Council with objections over proposals to build four wind turbines.

Residents packed into the meeting about a new wind turbine near Haunton

The plans for the 420ft turbines near Haunton have been strongly criticised by loca residents but planning chiefs will only make a final decision on the scheme in September.

Staffordshire County Councillor Matthew Ellis (Cons, Lichfield Rural East) has been supporting locals in their efforts to make their objections heard. He said:

This proposal would see four of the largest wind turbines ever constructed on mainland UK . Whatever people’s views are on the merits of wind energy, this wind farm would change forever the countryside around Lichfield and Tamworth with the turbines visible from as far as five miles away.

It is vital that the wider community make their views known on this application to the district council immediately.
