Minch Moor wind farm rejected amid scenic impact fear

bbc.co.uk 10 August 2010

Councillors in the Borders have rejected plans for a wind farm south of the Tweed Valley.

Developers Vattenfall had wanted to erect 12-turbines on the Minch Moor, which is crossed by the Southern Upland Way.

However, Scottish Borders Council turned down the application for the 24 megawatt site because of the “visual intrusion” it would would have brought.

They said the landscape was one of the Borders’ greatest assets.
