An application has been lodged to build a massive wind farm in Cornwall, a year after the previous plan sparked controversy and protest.
Community Windpower has submitted the new application after redesigning a 20-turbine wind farm project, planned for Davidstow in North Cornwall.
Last year, residents protested against the plans, mainly because the scheme near the village’s Dairy Crest factory was within a three-mile radius of 10 turbines at Delabole and 22 at Cold Northcott.
Under the revised plans, twenty 413ft (126m) turbines would lie solely within Davidstow Woods and farmland to the south, and no longer occupy any part of Davidstow Airfield.
A Community Windpower spokesman said the new turbines would be more compact and would provide the remaining 50 per cent of Cornwall’s 2010 renewable energy target.
Keith Goodenough, chairman of Group Against Windfarm Proliferation said: “We shall object vehemently against it, no matter what happens. We feel we have got enough wind farms here.”
