Draft scope submitted, available for review

Babcock & Brown has submitted a Draft Scoping Document to the Towns of Westfield and Ripley as part of the State Environmental Quality Review (SEQR) process for the proposed Ripley-Westfield Wind Farm.

Comments on the Draft Scoping Document will be heard at two public scoping meetings scheduled for next Tuesday, July 29th. The first meeting will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Westfield Academy and Central School District auditorium. The second meeting will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at Meeder’s Restaurant in Ripley.

Written comments will be accepted through August 8th.

The Scoping Process is intended to focus the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) on potentially significant adverse environmental impacts associated with the proposed project.

Impacts included in the Draft Scoping Document include soils and geology, agricultural land and water resources, wetlands, terrestrial ecology, bird and bat resources, land use and zoning, traffic, socioeconomic impacts, cultural resources, aesthetics, noise, air quality, communication signals and public health and safety.

A copy of the Draft Scoping Document is available on the Town of Westfield website: www.townofwestfield.org.
