Changes in the wind?

A wind turbine towering nearly 400ft into the sky could be located on the outskirts of Coleshill.

Concerns over global warming have sparked a proposal from Ecotricity and Sainsbury’s to locate a 2MW wind turbine at the supermarket giant’s Hams Hall distribution centre.

Ahead of a planning application being made to North Warwickshire Borough Council, a public exhibition will be held at the Town Hall on Monday (July 28), from 12pm to 7pm.

“Over 30 per cent of the UK’s carbon emissions comes from the generation of conventional electricity,” said a spokesman for green energy supplier Ecotricity.

“The most important thing we can do to fight global warming is change where our electricity comes from.”

Members of the Ecotricity team will be on hand to discuss the proposals and answer any questions. The exhibition will be at Coleshill Library from July 28 to August 6.
