Wind farms are a waste of energy

I see that the Texas PUC passed the construction of new wind-power lines for electric transmission. T. Boone Pickens and others finally got taxpayers of Texas to foot the bill.
The truth about wind generation is that without abatements and subsidies, it is more expensive than current generation. It also takes the same amount of backup generation to operate if the wind is not blowing.
Pickens owns thousands of acres north of Pampa. Not one wind-generation unit is to be constructed on his property. His grasslands sit idle without cattle while plans are to construct wind generators on ranch and farmland owned by others. Most of these rangelands and farms are producing crops and cattle. Mesa Power could construct the complete project on Pickens’ property with land to spare.
It looks like Panhandle residents will be sitting in the dark on windless days.
Power produced here will be lighting and cooling Dallas and Fort Worth.
