Hawthorn residents have sent hundreds of letters of protest against plans to set up a windfarm close to their homes.
They sent 230 letters objecting to the building of three turbines nearby to planning chiefs at Easington Council.
It is the most notices the authority has received about any application in the last three years.
People living in the 225-home village have been joined in their fight against the windfarm by people living in Murton’s East Moor Estate, with 110 attending a recent meeting about the plan.
Seaham Town and Murton Parish councils have already raised concerns, including fears the structures could jeopardise already-approved plans to create a £300million film studio off the A182 between Dawdon and Cold Hesledon.
Objectors fear the peaceful life enjoyed in the villages, could be shattered and the conservation area ruined if the plan by Sea and Land Power and Energy Ltd is approved.
They also say they could be affected by the light “flicker” the blades could cause and noise pollution, with campaigners claiming the turbines could generate the same amount of sound as a jet engine.
Some claim the windfarm is as close as 350metres from their home, despite advisers recommending they are put at least a mile away from houses.
They have also spoken to people living near to existing turbines in Haswell and Seaton, who say their lives have been adversely affected by the turbines.
