A renewable energy firm wants to build a test mast on the edge of Melton – potentially paving the way for a windfarm.
Nuon UK has applied to build a 200ft meteorological tower at the former Melton Airfield to investigate weather conditions and viability of the site for turbines.
A Melton Council spokesman said: “We’re in the early stages of the application. This has been delegated to a planning officer.”
It will only be considered by councillors if more than five people complain but the development committee approved a similar application in the Vale last year.
