The problem of poor digital television reception within the village of Carmunnock and surrounding areas, is apparently more serious than first anticipated.
The problem would appear to be the result of the turbines on the wind farm presently being constructed on the Eaglesham Moor which seems to be affecting the picture quality of a number of sets.
Carmunnock Community Council has asked Scottish Power to investigate and attempt to resolve the issue and the community group has had meetings with Ofcom, the industry regulator.
Householders who use the transmitter at Darvel, Ayrshire, are mostly affected, and have raised the issue with the community council and Scottish Power Renewables, who operate the wind farm.
A spokesman for the community council expressed concern over the growing problem, but indicated a determination to find a solution to resolve the issue.
They also expressed concern about Glasgow City Council’s intention to construct a five turbine wind farm on the Cathkin Braes, over the next three years. Apparently, the installation of a satellite dish is a possible solution to the problem, however, the restrictions imposed by Glasgow City Council’s conservation department, is an issue which must be considered.
