In what could become West Michigan’s first commercial wind farm, Michigan Wind LLC in conjunction with John Deere Wind Energy Thursday will discuss the details of a reported $150 million, 30 turbine project for Elbridge Township.
A public informational meeting will be at 7:30 p.m. at the new township hall – the former Elbridge Elementary School building – 2266 E. Polk.
The Elbridge Township Board of Trustees has already heard a presentation on the commercial wind farm slated for agricultural lands in the western portion of the township that is located east of Hart.
Township Clerk Stephanie VanSickle said that township officials will not have to have any direct votes on the wind farm project. However, the township will make modifications to its zoning ordinance to take care of land use issues created by the large turbine towers.
VanSickle said that township officials have not received much negative reaction to the wind project since it publicly surfaced last month.
