Wind public forum to be held

Cohasset – On Wednesday, July 16, 2008 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Paul Pratt Memorial Library the Cohasset Alternative Energy Committee will be co-hosting a public forum to present the first commercial sized wind generation project to be submitted to the Planning Board under the new wind energy by-law.

This first project is for the installation of two 1.6 – 2MW (mega watt) sized wind turbines on land surrounding Cohasset Height landfill (Graham Waste). These turbines will be on same size scale as Hull Wind 2. The Graham Waste project is a joint venture of CCI-Energy, Palmer Capital, Lumus Construction, and Emergent Energy.

This presentation will the first opportunity for town residents to see the plans and begin to understand the scope of the project prior to the Planning Board Presentation. Some of what will be discussed and presented include: turbine placement, on-going site evaluation including avian, shadow/flicker and noise studies, a report outlining the recent wind study performed on site and energy production estimates. The presentation will also include computer simulation images of the turbines in place and what they will look like from various locations around town. Residents will be welcome and encouraged to ask questions.
See next week’s Mariner for more details.
