Wind concert

The winds of discontent were blowing through Kingston last night.

The Grad Club at Queen’s played host to the alternative wind energy concert and radio show.

This event, featuring a performance by Sarah Harmer, was put on by the environmental group – Lake Ontario Waterkeeper – and Queens Radio.

Organizers took aim at the 410-million dollar wind turbine project on Wolfe Island.

They say they don’t object to renewable energy – but say 86 turbines is too many…. and will impact migratory birds.

“This has to be addressed with proper siting, so that there will be no fragmentation to the landscape, the habitat that you know, for the avian species go through this area.”
