Wind farm won’t draw tourists

Wind farms

I had to laugh about the statement that Wigton plans to develop their wind farm ‘into a tourist attraction’. Do they really believe windmills are interesting for tourists? Europeans have had those windmills in their homelands for nearly 20 years, and most view them as a necessary evil disturbing the landscape.

In Jamaica, we should not believe that anything standing around will be attractive to tourists. I predict the opposite to be true: they will view a wind farm as an ugly disturbance of beautiful Jamaica. What may be a novelty to us is ‘old news’ to other nations.

That being said, a wind farm is a great idea to generate energy, despite the ugliness of the apparatus.
