NY regulators approve Clinton County wind farm

The developers of a Clinton County wind farm have the go-ahead from state utility regulators.

The Marble River Wind Farm will span 19,000 acres in the towns of Clinton and Ellenburg and will be capable of generating up to 229 megawatts of electricity. The state Public Service Commission, which approved the project Wednesday, says it will be the second largest wind energy project in New York.

Marble River – a joint venture of Horizon Wind Energy and AES-Acciona Energy – plans to build up to 109 wind turbines. The company expects to finish the project by the end of next year and sell the electricity it generates to power companies throughout the state.
