Wind farm code group in limbo

A group appointed to establish a national wind farm code is unsure about its future.

The Howard government set up the group a year ago, but the members have never met.

Former Pyrenees mayor David Clark was appointed to the group and says he has not heard anything from the new Federal Government.

He says the committee is still relevant, especially if the Government is serious about meeting its renewable energy targets.

“There’s one of two things happening, either the committee is still in place and we haven’t been activated yet, and that’s fair enough, a new government has lots of things on it’s agenda and we’re probably not high on the list, or the Government’s going to find new ways to deal with that in terms of just negotiating directly with the states,” he said.

“We haven’t heard anything.”
