The public will get its chance to air environmental concerns over the proposed Galloo Island wind power project.
The Department of Environmental Conservation has scheduled two public hearings, both on June 17 at the Hounsfield town court, West Washington Street, Sackets Harbor. The first hearing is at 3 p.m.; the second at 7 p.m.
Upstate NY Power Corp wants to install up to 90 wind turbines on Galloo Island, which is in the town of Hounsfield.
The DEC, as lead agency in the environmental review, has determined that the project might have a significant adverse impact on the environment, meaning that a Draft Environmental Impact Statement must be completed.
The public hearings are to get input on what environmental issues should be addressed in the DEIS.
