Wind turbine council blows out village wind generator plans

Plans to build five wind turbines on countryside near Dover have been booted out by Dover District Council which has it’s own wind turbine at its HQ in Whitfield.

Objectors packed into the Dover District Council chamber where they heard councillors decide to turn down the controversial plans to build the turbines near Langdon village.

The council received more than 800 letters protesting at the proposals to siting the 400ft high turbines in what was described by former Sandwich Mayor, Cllr Bernard Butcher as the most beautiful countryside in the whole of Kent.

The plans are expected to go to a public inquiry as the application by Ecotricity was not dealt with in the statutory 16 weeks. An appeal has already been lodged.
