The label (non-progressive, inflexible citizens of Essex County) Mr. Gilbert has chosen to give those who oppose wind turbines has made me wonder if he is educated on the situation.
I am sure he enjoys the progress of satellite, cellphone and the Internet. All of these will be interfered with drastically with the installation of the turbines. The rotation of the blades will affect the signals of all we enjoy.
The blade rotation, which causes a flickering, vibration and noise, has been proven to be a health hazard.
Mr. Gilbert stated that most of our wetlands and forests have already been destroyed. Don’t you think we should all be concerned about protecting what we have left? The distances mentioned in his letter were inaccurate. If he was really aware of what is to happen he would know there are at least five turbines planned for Point Pelee and other environmentally sensitive areas.
Mr. Gilbert should research the number of wind farms that have been erected and determine how many fossil fuel plants have been shut down. Not only have there been no plant closures but more have been built.
I urge everyone to consider the hazards, inconveniences and the destruction wind turbines can cause when put in populated areas. You should also consider what will happen to the value of your property.
