Neighbours will be the losers

We attended a meeting at East Bierley School (May 30) with representatives from Princes soft drinks and councillors from Kirklees, the subject on the agenda the “proposed” 120 metre wind turbine.

This turbine benefits only Princes and possibly their 440 employees based at that site. There are well in excess of 14,000 voters in the Tong ward, the residents of Toftshaw and East Bierley village who stand to derive no benefit from this development and the vast majority will suffer adverse consequences.

Those who live in close’ proximity, as we do, to the factory will suffer significant and unacceptable loss and deprivation if it is allowed.

This turbine, if allowed, would be the largest in an urban area in England.

May we suggest that this is why the councillors are supporting the development, the phrase “putting Bradford on the map” springs to mind – after all the turbine is going to be seen from as far away as Barnsley.

Not much comfort to ourselves and our neighbours who will be approximately 300 metres away from it.
