Windfarm lorry fears meeting

Residents anxious about windfarm components being delivered through Montgomery are being invited to a public meeting to discuss the matter.

The meeting will be taking place at 7.30pm on June 2 in Montgomery Town Hall.

Components for a wind farm near Llanbadarn Fynydd are to be routed through Montgomery as one of two options being considered by the developers.

Montgomery’s County Councillor, Stephen Hayes, said: “It’s important residents hear about these plans in as much detail as possible, in time to make their views heard.

“I have already written to the authorities concerned making it plain that bringing these giant loads through Montgomery is not acceptable.”

Power lines for a new national grid connection to the wind farms may also pass close to residential areas at Caerhowel and Cllr Hayes added: “We are told there will be a public consultation exercise about the new power lines, but the public meeting on June 2 in Montgomery Town Hall will give everyone a chance to get all the information currently available on both these proposals, as well as details of who to contact with objections.

“Montgomery is an outstanding small town in a beautiful setting and we must do our best to pass it on unspoilt to future generations.”
