An energy company is moving forward with its plans to build a windfarm near a village.
Cornwall Light and Power had originally wanted to build four turbines on land at South Sharpley Farm at Seaton, near Seaham, but said it is now only applying to build three after consultation with residents.
It has chosen to remove the one which would have been closest to the village from the plans.
The company says the remaining structures would provide electricity to power more than 4,850 homes and would contribute towards the county’s 2010 target for renewable energy.
People who have previously objected to the idea and state they do not want to see any development of its kind in the area have said they will comment on the plans once they have been made public this week.
The firm is in the process of submitting the application to District of Easington Council.
If approved, a number of people living in Seaton would have up to nine turbines in view of their homes.
Four are being replaced at Eppleton and two have been constructed off the B1404 Seaton to Houghton road.
Bob Morgan, development manager of Cornwall Light and Power, said: “Following meetings with local people and the council, we have made further changes to our original proposals – people told us that they felt one of turbines was too close to the village of Seaton, and as a result we have removed that turbine from the plans.”
