The movement of massive wind turbine blades is expected to cause traffic headaches over thirteen days from Monday June 2, it was revealed today.
The 300-ft long vehicles will be travelling from Chatham dockyard to Romney Marsh.
On Monday June 2 three loads will leave Chatham around 10.30am. The vehicles will travel along the A289 Medway tunnel road, then join the M2 to junction three.
The loads will continue down Bluebell Hill and join the M20, exiting at junction 10. They will then travel along the A2070, A259 and arrive at the site in Romney Marsh.
From Tuesday 3 June, it is anticipated there will be two movements of blades per day. This will involve a maximum of three loads being moved at a time.
The lorries will leave Chatham at around 5am and noon to avoid the busiest times on the roads. It is estimated the movements will take 13 days to complete but there will be no loads travelling at the weekend.
Police motorcyclists and one car will escort each movement.
Motorists are urged to listen to local radio travel bulletins before setting on their journey to ensure they avoid any traffic delays.
