Wind farm public inquiry july

Controversial plans for a 12-turbine wind farm at Routh, near Beverley, will be thrashed out at a public inquiry in July.

A new date has been fixed for the inquiry, which will be held from July 2 to 11 at East Riding Council offices at Main Street, Skirlaugh.

A Government inspector will consider an appeal by Ridgewind Ltd against East Riding Council’s refusal to grant planning consent for the proposed development.

The company wanted to site the 100-metre high turbines on land north of Hall Farm at Routh, but the application was turned down amid fears that the giant turbines would spoil one of the best loved views of Beverley.

The scheme sparked protests from several parish councils in the area, including Tickton and Routh Parish Council and Beverley Town Council.
