IPSWICH – The proposal to design and built a wind turbine on town-owned property at the end of Town Farm Road received overwhelming support at the ballot box tonight. The measure passed 4,037 votes in favor to 1,011 opposed.
The proposal, which includes the borrowing of $2.6 million at 4.5 percent interest and a $1.6 million Clean Renewable Energy Bond at 0 percent interest, required a two-thirds majority vote at Town Meeting. It was approved unanimously but needed to be approved by voters at the ballot box as well to move forward.
